Peter first came to Bath for a year in 1986 to study an art foundation course. He went on to graduate from Manchester Polytechnic, returning to the city in 1993. Inspired by the architecture and life of the town, he has become a familiar figure painting the city's streets as well as in all the other cities and towns in which he now works (such as London, Oxford, Cambridge, Cardiff, Chichester, Henley-on-Thames etc..).
He rarely paints in the studio preferring to work directly from the subject on site in sometimes the foulest of weathers. He works in charcoal, oil and pastel for which he has received numerous awards at various national exhibitions.

He is a member of The New English Art Club, The Pastel Society, The Royal institute of Oil Painters and Bath Society of Artists.

Peter, his wife, Lisa and their four children Oliver, Toby, Harriet and Eleanor live in Bath.

In May 2002 Peter was asked by BBC Radio Bristol to take part in the series 'A sense of Place'. The result was a half hour programme 'A Picture of Bath'. This led on to Peter taking part in the BBC1 series 'Inside Out' where he paints his favourite view of Bath and asks what will come of it over the next three hundred years. The programme was broadcast on 13th September 2004 when viewers saw him paint a view of Belvedere and speak to David McLaughlin, Conservation Architect for Bath and North East Somerset about some of the extraordinary plans for development of Bath in the past.
