In 2006 Peter was selected
to be the Savoy Hotel's first artist in residence. He came and
went over the year but had two lengthy stays in February and October
resulting in fifteen oil paintings mainly of the views from the
'Monet Suite' on the 5th floor of the hotel. When there he painted
solidly from dawn to 9pm with the only interruptions from hotel
staff serving sumptuous breakfasts, cleaning his rooms, making
his bed, replenishing the fruit bowls, and mini bar, renewing
shampoos and soaps, bringing fresh towells and the daily paper
and of course 'turn down' service. Although peter is the first
official invited artist in residence in the Hotel's history, he
follows in the footsteps of Monet, Whistler, Kokoschka, Nevinson
and numerous other 20th century artists inspired by the views
of the Thames offered by the hotel.
While at the Hotel Peter was
interviewed by various papers aswell as radio and television stations
including the BBC. Follow this
